A new grocery store is open in Bluewell after the town’s Kroger closed earlier this month.

A Grants Supermarket opened its doors on Saturday, April 27, in the same building where the Kroger was located.

Not only does the store guarantee the people of Bluewell continued access to fresh groceries, store manager Steve Remines said the opening is actually helping people keep their jobs.

“We hired about 14 to 16 former Kroger employees, brought them on board, too. We’re doing still some staffing just as our needs arise, but we are looking for a few more good people” Remines said.

Remines said loves working at Grants because of its strong sense of community. The store is known for having a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, and a top notch meat department.
