Saint Patrick’s Day is a day where many parties and parades happen. But according to law enforcement, Saint Patrick’s Day is the third busiest day for DUI-related arrests.

Sargant Adam Ballard with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department warned the public to plan ahead to stay safe when out this weekend.

“I’m sure everybody is going to go out and have some of their green beer or their favorite beverages and that is fine,” Ballard said. “We don’t have issues with that, the only problems we have is when those people get behind the wheel of a car.”

Ballard said during holiday weekends, they do increase patrol to make sure everyone is safe while driving on the roads.
