MERCER COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — The Mercer County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to purchase body cameras for Mercer County Deputies.

Chief Deputy Joe Parks said their department does not have body cameras at this time, but each deputy will soon have one. He said the body cameras will help provide video evidence and a true representation of incidents from the officer’s perspective.

Parks said right now deputies are waiting for an invoice for the equipment and hope to get it quickly approved by the county commission. He said their department expects to have the body cameras within the next month or two.
