Mercer County Commissioners are working to put in a Public Service District. The plan is to have this Public Service District take over Matoaka’s current wastewater project.

Mercer county commissioner Bill Archer said many people have come to him about not having water. The PSD will provide this service to people in a clean, environmentally-friendly manner.

“We’re forming our Public Service District. We’ve already contacted a few potential candidates, but we want to get people who meet the qualifications and who also have an interest in serving. And also, are eager to look outside the box for solutions that are inventive and creative,” Archer said.

They will hold two more readings for this service district plan before the real action begins.
