BLUEFIELD, W. Va. (WVNS) –On Thursday, February 1st, 2018, kids from Mercer and Tazewell Counties as well as home-schooled students went to the Summit Theater in Bluefield, to watch a theater performance.

The Barter Players, a traveling theater group put on a show for students. This is the 3rd year the group has made an appearance in Bluefield.

Betty Brainerd, Executive Director with The Bluefield Area Arts Center, said this is a very exciting opportunity for the little ones.

“There’s children today that have come from outlying areas that have never been to a movie theater let alone a live production. So it’s very exciting,” said Brainerd.

Nearly 900 kids came out to see the performance.
