Travelers in Mercer County will need to be aware of a new traffic pattern on I-77 over the weekend.  The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) has announced that the interstate’s northbound exit 1 to Bluefield will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018.

The ramp closure will last from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.  It will be closed to allow crews to pave the ramp.  The resurfacing was not able to be done before this time due to the weather.

During the closure, tractor-trailers will be allowed to stay on I-77 north.  They will not be required to follow the detour that is currently in place.

Officials with the WVDOT are reminding drivers that the speed limit in the work zone is 55 MPH. Law Enforcement Officers will be in place to enforce the speed restrictions.
