Fifteen miles of biking trails are now available to the public. The Green Bank Observatory partnered with the United States Forest Service to open the trails.They wanted to provide an access point to the Allegheny Trail.
“One of the things we are trying to do in Pocahontas County, since our motto is that we are nature’s mountain playground. Pocahontas County is certainly a natural environment for outdoor recreation,” Michael Holstine, Green Bank Observatory Business Manager, said.
Because of the proximity to the telescope to the trails, any electronic device that can put out a signal is prohibited. All trails are open to the public.
