A man who is being held in the Federal Correctional Institute in Beckley will now be spending more time behind bars. Dave Manuel Berrios-Henandez, 24, was sentenced to serve 15 more years after he was found with a weapon.
Berrios-Hernandez pleaded guilty to the crime in November. He admitted he had a handmade knife, also called a “shank,” on Sept. 5, 2017. The shank was taken by staff at the prison after Berrios-Hernandez threw it down.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Berrios-Hernandez was sentenced in front of Judge Irene Berger.
