Morgantown was a treat for famed ESPN college basketball analyst Seth Greenburg. “The game day atmosphere was absolutely terrific,” Greenberg said. “The students were engaged and excited.”

Greenburg was selected as guest speaker for the 2018 Big Atlantic Classic in Beckley. He said he senses a big passion for hoops throughout the state of West Virginia. “To have an event like this, a week long event celebrating basketball in the state is phenomenal,” Greenberg said.

Governor Jim Justice will once again be switching hats to tournament director and as one of 43 coaches with their teams in the classic. Governor Justice said that is an emblem for the sport and surrounding region. “It is a real celebration of our kids and what hometown communities are really all about,” Justice said.  “This is a great week, a real economic driver for southern West Virginia in a lot of ways.”

Teams competing in the classic range from elementary school to college. Greenberg believes the game can transcend life lessons for all ages. “You get them motivated through athletics,” Greenberg said.  “It’s important for their education and them setting their goals to do other things.”
