While the weather has warmed up, the previous cold spell put setback on a construction project in Raleigh County.
The new Beckley Police Department Headquarters is being built. With subzero temperatures, it delayed the project about four weeks. Contractors explained they couldn’t lay down the concrete due to the ground being so cold.
Those with the Beckley Police Department said despite the weather, everything is back on track. “The construction crew is back on site, digging the footers and they should be pouring the concrete in the next couple of days. Next month we should start seeing some visible progress with the walls and so forth and the steel beams that will be going up,” the Chief of Police with the Beckley Police Department, Lonnie Christian said.
The building is expected to be completed by this October.
