As Christmas and the holidays approach, local law enforcement officers are taking extra measures to ensure the safety of everyone on southern West Virginia’s roadways. A grant from the West Virginia Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention is allowing deputies in Raleigh County to spend more time watching for drunk and distracted drivers.
According to a release, there will be increased patrols throughout the month of December and the holiday season. In addition to watching for drunk or drugged drivers, they will also be on the lookout for safety related violations such as seatbelt usage and those using held held mobile devices.
