The first ever donkey basketball was held in Beckley on Sunday, April 14. Families could enjoy the rainy Sunday afternoon with fun, laughter and basketball. Four teams competed.

Madison Deck participated and said all the money raised is to help the Raleigh County Horseman’s Association in Crow.

“We have local shows there, like NBHA barrel races,” Deck said. “We are just trying to raise money for the association and try to get the arena covered, so it’s not like all muddy. So, it’s just a fundraiser to get money for that.”

Beck said she has never done donkey basketball before and looks forward to trying to play basketball while having to stay on a donkey.
