BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Police departments throughout the region, including Beckley, will be increasing D.U.I. patrols the weekend of February 2, 2018, ahead of Sunday’s matchup.  They say it is a precautionary measure in order to not add any more to the thousands of fatal drunk driving accidents nationwide.  Beckley captain David Farley says this weekend has unfortunate potential for more danger on the roads.

“Parties (will be) going everywhere,” Farley said.  “Every club and bar you see or restaurant’s got some kind of party going on, so there’s an opportunity for more people to be out there.”

Officers strongly advise for those planning to have a few either call a cab, hitch a ride, or stay the night – and to never drink and drive.
