4/15/19 7 p.m. UPDATE:

No one in Jalen Tucker’s family knew this past weekend would be the last they would see him. His mother, Crystal Tucker, said her final moment with Jalen was him showing her pictures of a flooring project he was eager to finish.

“He walked out the door, ‘I’ll see you later mama dear, I love you.’ I said ‘I love you more.’ Then I told him ‘I’m proud of you.’ He said ‘Thank you…’ and he walked out,” Crystal said. “About two hours later, we get a call that he was in an accident… When they finally got him to the hospital, we found out that… it would’ve taken a miracle.”

His brother, Khalil Anderson, said Jalen was driving his four-wheeler on Sullivan Road to get gas when he was fatally injured. Anderson said his brother was the glue that held the family together, through his sincere care for others and goofy jokes.

“It’s not just a person that got hit by an ATV. This was a father,” Anderson said. “Most importantly, a father… to kids that now have to grow up and wonder… With all the stories that we tell them, they don’t get to experience that. They don’t get to experience that joy.”

For the Tucker family, Jalen’s memory is one filled with life and laughter left behind to his loved ones.

“As painful as this is, I thank God for giving me Jalen for 26 years, because [of] the legacy that he left his sons, and the love that he gave us…” Crystal said. “Even though it was cut short, every moment was priceless.”

The family said service arrangements will not be made until Tucker’s body is released from the medical examiner.

Jalen Tucker, who celebrated his birthday less than two weeks ago, was 26-years-old. He is survived by his fiancee and two sons.
