The end of Winter is coming and that means a special opportunity for skiers and snowboarders in the Mountain State.  Three resorts across West Virginia are offering a free day of skiing on Sunday, March 17, 2019.  This is the last weekend before the first day of Spring on March 20.

The resorts offering this deal to West Virginians include Canaan Valley in Tucker County, Snowshoe in Pocahontas County and Winterplace in Raleigh County.  To enjoy the slopes at no cost, you only need to show proof of West Virginia residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill.

“For the most part the weather has been favorable for snowmaking purposes this season, which has allowed our snowmakers to create excellent slope coverage with manmade snow,” said Terry Pfeiffer, President of the West Virginia Ski Areas Association and Winterplace Ski Resort. “This month’s natural snow also created a buzz for skiers and snowmakers to make some more turns this season.”

The season at Snowshoe Mountain ends on March 31.  At Canaan Valley, the season will end on Sunday, March 17.  The conditions at Winterplace are being evaluated before an announcement is made about when to close for the season.
