Early Saturday morning, many families gathered at the movies for a family fun event. But it was more than watching a feature-length film.

Causeacon partnered with the Beckley Marquee Cinemas to present LEGO Day, where kids had fun creating their own masterpieces with the ever-popular building blocks. Alongside seeing the New LEGO Movie, there were contests throughout the occasion.

Causeacon chairman Desiree Christian said families should not have to travel to expensive amusement parks in order to have a good time.

“Not everyone here can afford to go to Disney World or go to Universal Studios and all these big places,” Christian said. “So we try to bring some of that fun here for our local community.”

All the money raised at LEGO Day went towards this year’s Causeacon.
