COAL CITY, W. Va. (WVNS) — A Raleigh County man faces a malicious wounding charge after deputies said he hit a man in the head with a crowbar during a fight.

According to court documents, Brandon Perdue was arrested on November 30, 2017, and charged with one count of malicious wounding.

Deputies were called out to a house on Whitby Road in Coal City and found a man lying on the floor holding a bloody rag on his head. The man said Perdue hit him on the head with a crowbar.

Deputies also talked to the man’s girlfriend, who said she wasn’t in the room, but she heard a “loud hit.” She said she found her boyfriend lying on the floor and Perdue was standing over him with the crowbar.

Deputies said they later found Perdue at his apartment and Perdue admitted he hit the man. In court documents, Perdue said he only hit the man because he saw him kick and push his pregnant girlfriend. Perdue did not tell deputies what he used to hit the victim.

He remains the Southern Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
