New River CTC holds classes for nature enthusiasts

Interested in learning more about birds and nature? Well a local college may have the class for you.

New River Community and Technical College is holding bird watching and nature exploration classes.  Both of these classes can be found in Beaver, Summersville, Lewisburg and Princeton. 

The two-day bird watching classes are scheduled in Beaver, March 8 and 9; in Summersville, March 15 and 16; in Lewisburg, March 22 and 23; and in Princeton, March 29 and 30. All classes meet from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The nature exploration class is scheduled in Beaver, March 9; In Summersville, March 16; in Lewisburg, March 23; and in Princeton, March 30. All classes are from 2 to 4 p.m.

Director of Communications, Jenni Canterbury, said this is the perfect activity to kick off spring. 

“I think we are ready to spend a little bit more time outside and with the bird watching class, you can learn to appreciate those birds that we’re hearing more and more, and also learn to enjoy nature at a different level with the nature exploration classes,” Canterbury said. 

Tuition for the bird watching class is $50, and tutition for the nature exploration class is $40 for families, $20 for adults and $10 for children. Pre-registration is required for all classes.
