Rocket Boys film festival hosts annual essay contest

The 2018 Rocket Boys Film Festival is launching its annual Essay Contest. Students, from not only West Virginia, but anywhere in the country can enter.

For 250 words or less, the winner will receive a cash prize and a chance to meet Homer Hickam and the rocket boys cast at this years Festival.

The essay question is: what are you going to do in the next year that will make your community better?

General Manager of Theater West Virginia, Scott Hill, said even those who do not win will still be doing good by helping their communities with their ideas.

“Just the exercise of thinking about how can you make a difference, junior high, middle school kids making a difference,” says Hill. “You get 100 entries 500 of them go out and make a difference, it’s a better community.

Theater West Virginia will be accepting entries by mail until September 7.
