The Piney Creek Watershed Association held its third annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 13 in Raleigh County. Over the last two weeks, 20 different cleanup projects were completed before meeting at the Maxwell Hill Community Center for a celebration.

Executive Director of Piney Creek Watershed Association Danielle Stewart said keeping the town clean will help bring visitors to the area.

“Communities that have lots of trash built up are usually not the nice places people want to go people want to visit,” Stewart said. “We always talk about economic development and things that we can do to make things better. Simply picking up our trash and making our community look better is one simple step that we can all do.”

If you would like to participate in another Piney Creek Watershed Association cleanup, you can contact them for more information.
