Medical professionals gathered at the VA Medical Center for an annual event. The VA held the Third annual Palliative Care Conference. Healthcare providers learned about different opportunities the VA and Hospice offer for those in need.

Debra Lilly is a former palliative care psychologist. She explained this conference is beneficial to make sure healthcare professionals can educate their patients.

“I think there are a lot of myths about what hospice and palliative care is. So just to educate some of the providers and social workers so that they can disperse and go in the community as they work with people and give them some information on the benefits of both of those services,” Lilly said.

If you were unable to attend the conference, but would like to learn more about hospice and palliative care, you can contact your local hospice center or VA Medical center.
