The United Way of Southern West Virginia is celebrating a huge accomplishment.

The non-profit met its goal of raising $860,000. They allocate these funds to more than 40 agencies who rely on the community’s support. By reaching this goal, the United Way will be able to fully fund the these agencies. It also ensures the continuation of the 2-1-1 Information & Referral Hotline, Equal Footing Shoe Fund, as well as literacy and anti-hunger initiatives for our youth.

Executive Director, Michelle Rotellini, said this is just the beginning for them as an organization.

“Everything that we do for the entire year; Dancing With the Stars, our derby days, all of the fundraisers you see us doing all the time, this is what it goes towards, is to make our goal and fund the work we do,” Rotellini said.

The United Way of Southern West Virginia’s goal for next year’s campaign is to raise $900,000.
