UPDATE: Interstate back open after accident on Sandstone Mountain

Emergency dispatchers said as of 10:55 p.m., all lanes of I-64 were back open near mile marker 134. No further details about the crash have been released.


RALEIGH COUNTY, W. Va. (WVNS) — A portion of I-64 is closed in Raleigh County after a car accident near the bottom of Sandstone Mountain.

Emergency dispatchers said it happened near mile marker 134 just before 9 p.m. on Monday. Dispatchers said a vehicle rolled over, and at least one person was transported to a local hospital.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene. As of 9:16 p.m., the westbound lanes were closed as crews worked to clear the accident.

The Beaver Volunteer Fire Department and Best Ambulance were also dispatched.
