On Friday, March 1, 2019, Raleigh County Students took part in Read Across America Day, with the help of a very special guest.
West Virginia First Lady Cathy Justice stopped by Kids of Harmony Preschool in Beaver on Friday morning. It is one of a number of schools she is visiting to promote reading across the state.
She read the students a book called “Owen and Mizee, Best Friends” — with the message that you do not have to be the same to be best friends.
Justice said she loves interacting with the kids.
“We just love them and they’re just a breath of fresh air, and we love to be around them and hear what they have to say, they’re very honest and that’s what we like,” said Justice.
Justice gave each student a copy of the book to take home. She also visits Cranberry-Prosperity elementary school Friday afternoon.
