A fight between inmates turned deadly at the Southern Regional Jail. Now three inmates are each facing a charge of First Degree Murder.
The incident happened on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019. Anthony Lee Johnson, Dallas Allen Lauschin and Antwon Jones are accused of beating Kevin Whitaker to death.
According to court records, the three men spent four minutes in Whitaker’s cell. Corrections Officers found Whittaker an hour and a half later. He was having difficulty breathing and had multiple head injuries.
Investigators said he lost consciousness while waiting for first responders. He later died at an area hospital. The investigation is being handled by the West Virginia State Police.
