For the first time in school history, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams at WVU Tech are heading to the National Championship Tournaments in the same year. On Wednesday, February 22, McDonalds on Robert C. Byrd Dr. in Beckley held a send-off and viewing party for the teams and community to enjoy.

Head Coaches Anna Kowalska and Bob Williams said the support from the community this season has been amazing.

“The city of Beckley is so supportive. I’m so glad we moved here because it seems like it is our home,” Kowalska said.

“We thank the city of Beckley and our students at WVU Tech, our administration, our alumni and just our fans in general for the great support over the tournament, over the season this past year,” Williams said.

Both teams watched anxiously as their matchups were announced. The men’s team is a #1 rank and will face off against #8 College of the Ozarks out of Missouri. The women’s team is ranked #7 and will face off against #2 Indiana Tech.
