The Spartan Race is quickly approaching and the YMCA of Southern West Virginia can help people get prepared.
Trainers are available for hire through the YMCA in Beckley. They will practice with individuals at the soccer complex, where people can train on a mock obstacle course and practice running through the trails.
Running coach and Spartan Race veteran, Missy Burleson, said it is not too late to start training, and people do not have to be a pro to give it a shot.
“Don’t be scared to do it, don’t be afraid to jump in and try,” said Burleson. “It’s amazing, it’s fun, it’s something that anybody can do.”
The race takes off on August 24 with a “beast feast,” and goes on all weekend.
