Student Arrested for George Washington High School Threat

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – UPDATE (2/16/18 9:00 AM):

A teenager has been arrested for last night’s threat to George Washington High School hand is in police custody.

According to Charleston Police, Corey Michael Duff, 18-years-old, a student at George Washington High School, has been charged with one felony count of Threats of Terrorist Acts. 

Charleston Police say the charge stems from a video Duff posted on SnapChat. 

According to Kanawha County Schools, all schools in the area are running on normal schedule.

KCS says that every precaution has been taken and will continue to be taken, including continuous police presence, as the school continues normal operation.



Charleston Police are investigating another apparent threat at George Washington High School.

Briana Warner with Kanawha County Schools sent out the following release:

This is a message from Kanawha County Schools. Late this evening Kanawha County Schools officials and Charleston Police were notified of a new threat to George Washington High School.
Charleston Police are investigating and extra precautions will be
taken to prevent the threat from occurring including extra law
enforcement presence at the school. At this time, the school will be on a normal schedule tomorrow. If you have any questions, please call the school in the morning. Thank you
