The Hinton Police Department is moving to a new building.

The new building is located on the west side of Hinton on Temple Street and will have many new features. Chief of Police Derek Snavely said the department is moving because they found a bigger building that the city already owns that will better accommodate the police department.

“An alternate entrance to bring people who are under arrest in to our office. We have holding cages, which we have never had where we can put we have two different cages were we can put inmates in that way they would never have to even interact with the general public or someone who would come into our office,” Snavely said.

Chief Snavely said the official date has not been set for when they plan to move but they are hoping to be in the new building within the next few weeks.
