Man convicted for sexually abusing young girl

A Summers County man has been convicted on 15 counts of sex crimes involving a young girl. 

Summers County Prosecuting Attorney Kristin Cook tells 59 News, on August 8, Leland Petrey was convicted on five counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian. He was also convicted on two counts of sexual assault in the first degree, three counts of sexual assault in the second degree and five counts of other sex crimes. 

According to court documents, Leland Petrey sexually abused a young girl from 2013 to 2017. The abuse started when the girl was 10 years old. 

Cook said Petrey faces a minimum of 155 years when he is sentenced on September 24.
