A new art exhibit opened at Tamarack in Beckley on Saturday April 7, 2018. This exhibit features the artwork of local students who take part in the Youth Arts in teh Parks 2018 Appalachian Spring Wildflower Art contest.

Students can be from kindergarten to a senior in high school from Fayette, Nicholas, Raleigh, and Summers counties. Students learned about regional wildflowers and Appalachian ecology while they created art using watercolor paint, glass, oil pastels, pencils, paper, and more.

This year 470 students participated and the top 72 pieces were picked by a jury online and are now displayed at Tamarack, through May 8, 2018. The five Best in Show pieces are displayed in the David L. Dickerson Fine Arts Gallery until June 10, 2018. The other 67 art pieces are on display in the lobby of the Hulett C. Smith Theater.
