Gov. Justice: The Education Bill is Dead, Go Back to Work

West Virginia

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The West Virginia House of Delegates reconvenes at 6 PM and before they do, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice wanted to make his opinion known to the educators who protested at the Capitol today.

During Gov. Justice’s press conference earlier this afternoon, he said he was glad the education bill was dead.

He said although it had good parts in it, charter schools and education savings account are not something he agrees with.

The governor went on to call upon lawmakers to take up his bill… as he calls it a clean bill. For teacher pay raises.

He also called upon the teachers during the press conference, saying, “I’m calling on you to go back to work.  Go back to work right now. Go back to work tomorrow, and everything, because give this process a chance to really work.”

The unions for the teachers and service personnel have a press conference scheduled for 7 PM on Tuesday, February 18th, 2019, detailing their next move.
