BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — An inmate at the Southern Regional Jail in Beckley, WV is recovering after being attacked in his cell on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018.  According to the criminal complaint there were seven men who attacked him.

Donovan Hunt identified his attackers as Bryan Allen, Orlando Davis, Marquess Forney, Michael Hodge, Carless Kinser and Tiero Wash.  Those six allegedly beat and stabbed Hunt while Calvin Allen stood guard outside the cell.

Investigators said video surveillance supported the statements made by Hunt.  All seven men are now facing malicious wounding charges for the attack.  Those charges are in addition to charges they are already facing.

The alleged attackers are from Fayette and Mercer Counties.  Orlando Davis is accused of first degree murder and robbery charges in Mercer County after an incident in June 2016.  The other men accused in the attack are being held on a variety of charges from aggravated robbery and conspiracy to dealing drugs and fleeing from police.

Hunt was taken to Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital for treatment.  There is no word on what may have led up to the attack.  The incident is still under investigation.
