Police: Man robbed while giving directions, 2 arrested

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — A good samaritan was robbed while he was trying help two people by giving them directions Sunday night, according to police. 

Police said the victim was in a gas station parking lot along Harper Road when two people pulled up in a car and asked for directions. When the victim walked toward the car, the driver pulled out a gun and demanded the victim hand over his wallet. 

Police issued a BOLO for the vehicle and troopers pulled it over in Fayette County. 

William Benjamin Lawson and Heather Nichole Brown were arrested. Lawson, who is wanted out of Tennessee, is charged with robbery and prohibited person with a firearm. Heather, who is from Georgia, is charged with accessory after the fact. 

Police said the victim was not injured and they were able to recover all of his stolen property.
