Over 1,000 athletes and WVU fans traveled to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center to hear the head coach of the mountaineers, Neal Brown who tipped off the Big Atlantic Classic basketball tournament. It starts tomorrow morning.
“The Big Atlantic Classis is our 30th Big Atlantic classic,” said Greenbrier Director of Public Relations, Cam Huffman. “It’s a huge event that comes to Beckley every year, it bring teams from all over the state to compete. The tip off banquet is always a great way to start it off we give all the players and coaches a steak lunch and they get to see a speaker, This year we have WVU football coach Neal Brown.”
Over a dozen high school and middle school basketball players throughout the state of West Virginia will compete in the 2019 Big Atlantic Classic that will take place Monday, January 28 through Saturday, February 2. Who better to bring all ages together to get this contest started then the newest member of the West Virginia sports family Neal Brown.
Brown gave a word of advice prior to the start of the tournament and that was to be all in, in everything you do including athletics. He even threw in some words about the upcoming season for Mountaineer football.
“I’m really fortunate to be here,” Brown said. “I’m humbled, I’m honored to be the head football coach at West Virginia and I mean that, and I’m looking forward to growing this program.”
WVU fans were delighted to hear who the keynote speaker of this year’s banquet would be, especially WVU fan Parker Hill.
“I’m excited that I think the new coach will do good this year,” Hill said.
Tip off of the Big Atlantic Classic basketball tournament will take place Monday morning at 10:45.
