Week 1 of high school football is almost here in West Virginia and all of the teams are getting ready for their opponents.

The Fayetteville Pirates are gearing up for their last season at Fayetteville High School. They are hoping to improve on their 6-5  record last season.

Dave Moneypenny is the head coach of the Pirates. He said fans can expect the same thing they always see Friday nights when they come to games even with this being the last season of football at Fayetteville.

“In the past we haven’t had a lot of numbers but these kids lay it out on the field and they’ll give you everything they have you know whether it’s in the weight room or out here you know on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays but playing hard and competing that’s what they are going to see,” said Moneypenny.

The Pirates kick off their 2018 season against Wyoming East on Friday August 24.
