A former Steubenville High School football player is making headlines at his new school, but not for his actions out on the field.
Ma’lik Richmond and a Steubenville teammate were convicted of raping an unconscious 16-year-old girl back in 2012 in Weirton West Virginia.
Now, Richmond joined the Youngstown State University’s football team in January and some people aren’t happy about it.
Our sister station WKBN reported one student, Katelyn Davis, began a petition on Saturday morning (8/5) to remove Richmond from the team.
According to Change.org, the petition will be sent to Youngstown State University’s President and head football coach.
At this time the petition has reached the over 5,000 signatures required. The school hasn’t released any statement on the petition just yet.
