UPDATE: New details released on fatal fire in McDowell County

HAVACO, WV (WVNS) — 7/23/2021 11:20 a.m. UPDATE: New details on Thursday’s fatal fire were released by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Investigators confirmed the victim was a 50-year-old man, but did not release his name. They also said the cause of the fire is still undetermined due to the amount of damage.

HAVACO, WV (WVNS) — 7/22/2021 4:47 p.m. ORIGINAL STORY: Investigators are on the scene of a fatal fire in McDowell County.

According to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire happened Thursday, July 22, 2021 in Havaco. One person died. Everyone else in the building is safe.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the WV State Fire Marshal.
