LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — 5/25/2021 5:37 p.m. UPDATE: West Virginia State Police confirmed missing person, Adam Crookshanks, was found dead in Greenbrier County.

Trooper J. D. Dowdy said Crookshanks was reported missing on Saturday. The last time Crookshanks was seen was on May 14, 2021 on Vago Road in Maxwelton. The last phone call he made was to his mother a few days later.

“The last time he had any communication with anybody was on the 16th, which was a voice message where he had sent that to his mom saying that he wanted to talk to her and that he was saying goodbye,” Dowdy said. “That was the last communication he had had with anybody.”

Dowdy said the investigation led officers to discovering Crookshanks’ body in a home in the Frankford area on Monday, May 24, 2021 around 9 p.m. He added Crookshanks was known to stay at that home from time to time.

“Which was a place he was known to stay at,” Dowdy said. “They called and said they had found his body. He was deceased.”

Dowdy said as of now, there are no theories. They are continuing the case as a death investigation.

“It’s a death investigation,” Dowdy said. “Given the state of the body, it had to be sent to the Medical Examiner’s office in Charleston to be able to perform an autopsy on it.”

Dowdy said it was a joint effort between all law enforcement agencies in Greenbrier County.

FRANKFORD, WV (WVNS) — 5/25/2021 9:30 a.m. UPDATE: A search for a missing man in Greenbrier County turned into a tragic ending.

West Virginia State Police confirmed Adam Crookshanks was found dead by investigators on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. His body was discovered in the Frankford area.

No further details were released, as troopers are still investigating his death.

MAXWELTON, WV (WVNS) — 5/22/2021 11:40 p.m. ORIGINAL STORY: Police in Greenbrier County are looking for a missing man.

Troopers with the Lewisburg detachment of West Virginia State Police said Adam Lewis Crookshanks, 39, was last seen on May 14, 2021. They said he was seen around 8:30 p.m. on Vago Road in Maxwelton.

Police said he left a voicemail on his mother’s phone on May 16, 2021, saying goodbye. Crookshanks is 6’1″ with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and black t-shirt. He has a scar on the left side of his face and is missing half of his left ring finger.
