WELCH, WV (WVNS) — 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2020 UPDATE: Officials with the McDowell County Emergency Services say the Coney Island Underpass is Welch reopened on Friday afternoon. The road was closed due to high water.

ORIGINAL STORY (8 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2020) — High water in McDowell County has temporarily shut down an underpass in Welch.

McDowell County 911 & Office of Emergency Services said the Coney Island Underpass in Welch is temporarily closed due to high water.

Officials also warn drivers in the Panther area to use caution as water has been reported in the roads.
