BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) – Two people are arrested after assaulting and robbing an elderly woman outside of the Mercer Mall in Bluefield, WV on December 6, 2019.

Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies told 59 News they responded to the Mercer Mall outside the Belk store around 3:45 p.m, regarding a call about an elderly woman being knocked over the head and being robbed of her purse.

Deputies spoke with the 66-year-old elderly victim about what had taken place. She advised that she was walking to her car where she placed her bags. She then opened the driver’s door and was struck in the head by someone who then took her purse.

Her purse was shortly found by mall staff in a trash with items inside stolen. After looking at mall surveillance footage and searching the property, deputies found two suspects parked in a black SUV with the seats led back, when searching their car deputies found gift cards and credit cards with the victim’s name on it.

The two were identified as a woman named Jorydn Finney and a man named Amir Stewart.

They were both arrested and taken before Magistrate Poe and arraigned on the charges for 1st Degree Robbery, Conspiracy, Assault during the Commission of a Felony, and Crimes Against the Elderly.

They were committed to Southern Regional Jail, both of their bonds were listed as $100,000 cash or surety. The victim had went to seek medical treatment, was treated and released. This investigation is still on going at this time
