Staying very warm as we close out the weekend

Weather

DISCUSSION:  Any lingering showers across the region will quickly rain themselves out as we lose the daytime heat tonight. This will lead into a pretty mild night once again, with lows staying in the 60s. A very calm night is expected with light winds and partly cloudy skies.

Sunday should be very similar to today, though it looks a little bit warmer and drier. Still, an isolated shower cannot be ruled out as highs top off in the upper 80s. Low humidity will be with us once again, so the heat shouldn’t feel too uncomfortable for most.

Though shower chances are low, we will gladly take whatever rain we can get through the weekend and into this week. The latest drought monitor now includes our entire viewing area under the moderate drought.

Long range guidance is keeping us very warm even into parts of next week. Highs will continue to make a run at the 80s each day until we get some cooler air to break the pattern.

Dry conditions look to hold tight through most of the week as well, until that cooler air arrives. Most models are showing that the cold front will make its way into our area late Thursday into Friday. Right now, it looks like rain could be possible either day, though it won’t be too much.

Cooler air arrives at the very end of the week.

Temperatures will be much, much lower Friday into next weekend though. Highs in the low 70s are possible, though some spots seeing temperatures not making it above the 60s is not out the question. Regardless, it will be some much needed relief from the heat that we can all appreciate.

Expected Peak For Fall Colors

Fall colors are starting to appear across the region. We are still a ways out from peak color, but you may notice leaves changing already. Most of the area will see peak colors by mid or late October. The further north you head, the quicker leaves change. With the dry spell we’ve been dealing with leaves can potentially fall before they even reach their peak colors, so some spots could be lackluster this year.
